CRYSTAL MARIE HANLON, 12, of Columbus, GA died at her residence Friday, February 19, 2010.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church in Columbus, GA on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Noon with Father Gerard Schreck and Father Mark Van Alstine officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA. A second funeral mass will be held at 10:30A.M. on Friday, February 26, 2010 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Salisbury, MO. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:30 A.M. at Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury, MO prior to the service. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt, MO.

Crystal lived life energetically despite challenges handed her by it. She was artistic and creative, often making art out of the simplest of materials. Crystal also enjoyed creating her own comic books and magazines. She was an avid reader, swimmer, and biker. Crystal was active at St. Anne Catholic Church in Columbus, GA where she was preparing for Confirmation in March. She was also a cheerleader at the YMCA and enjoyed riding horses at Story Book Farm in Opelika, AL.

We will remember her as a compassionate young lady with a heart for others. It was her desire to become a Nun so she could travel the country and help others. She also was passionate about life and the unborn. Crystal was a very forgiving person, sweet mannered and always friendly. While her life was brief, she left an impression that will always be remembered in a special way.

Survivors include her parents, Christopher and Sherry Bloss of Columbus, GA; maternal grandparents, (Godfather) Robert and Helen Gunn of Camdenton, MO; paternal grandmother, Jeanne Bloss of Moberly, MO; maternal great-grandmother, Mary Magruder of Atlanta, MO; paternal grandmother, (Godmother) Doris Hanlon of Webster Groves, MO; many aunts and uncles; twelve cousins; several friends.
