Biography:

Mary "Carolee" (Rice) Struble, 84 years old, 406 S Weber, Salisbury, Missouri passed away peacefully early Friday morning, April 21st, in Brunswick, MO after a six year fight with cancer.

Carolee was born to Charles and Zona (Burkett) Rice in Cowley County Kansas on May 23rd, 1932 and spent her childhood on the family farms south of Cedar Vale, KS.  She attended Cedar Vale schools and after high school moved to Wichita, KS to attend Sacred Heart College.  While in Wichita, she met her future husband Walter M. Struble.  They were married at St. Mary's Cathedral in Wichita on April 2, 1951.  They had 7 children and followed Walter's job to live in Wichita, KS, Gretna, LA, Tuscola, IL, Hutchinson, KS, Alva, OK, Sedalia, MO and Brunswick, MO.  She finished college and received her Bachelors degree while living in Alva from Northwestern State College.  She did this while raising her seven children and continued her education throughout her teaching career receiving a Masters plus degree from Northeast Missouri State University. Carolee moved to Salisbury after she married Leonard Henke on July 29, 1978.  She taught in the Missouri Public School systems for 30 years, finishing her career teaching 3rd grade in Salisbury, MO for 27 years.

Carolee was an especially spiritual woman that shared her love for God and the Catholic Church with each of her children and many other people she knew during her life. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Salisbury, MO, serving as lector and rosary leader for many years. She loved to travel, playing bridge or spades and hunt for antiques with a special love for dishes.  She always looked forward to her next trip.  She traveled extensively to all 50 states and throughout Europe, Canada and Central America.  Carolee was proud of her Rice, Oliver, Burkett, Wolfe and Cain genealogy and spent many of her last years researching and recording those lines.

She is survived by five of her seven children Vincent Struble (Susan) Springfield, MO, Marc Struble (Karen) Springfield, MO, Roseanne Meyer (Randy) Brunswick, MO, Anthony Struble (Pam) Saint Mary’s, GA, Angela Burks (Victor) Olathe, KS, her sister Jeanette Palmer (Paul) of Austin, TX, a niece, 3 nephews, 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.  Preceding her in death was her husband Walter, son John Joseph, daughter Kathyrn Elizabeth and grandson Adam Struble.
