Dick worked for several years in the powerline construction business for LP&H.  In 1955, he and his brother Bill opened Farnen Brothers, an Allis Chalmers and farm implement dealership in Salisbury.  He retired in 1996, but still enjoyed working with his hands, restoring antique Allis Chalmers tractors, and visiting with his long-time customers.  Dick served as a Salisbury City Alderman and on the Salisbury Board of Public Works.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and active in the Knights of Columbus.  Dick especially enjoyed elk hunting in Colorado and going to deer and turkey camp at his friend Max’s near Tipton, MO.  He also loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Dick is survived by his wife Mary of the home; his children, Eric (Lynn) Farnen, Doug (Stephanie) Farnen, Rebecca (Carl) Emmerich, Pat (Anne) Farnen, and Kimberly Farnen all of Salisbury, and Laura Farnen of Columbia, MO; grandchildren, Brent Farnen, Leah Botkin, Robert Farnen, Julie Gillihan, Erica Kassebaum, Seth Farnen, Brooke Wekenborg, Tony Emmerich, Evan Emmerich, Courtney Farnen, Tristan Farnen, and Ian Farnen; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill (Jean) Farnen of Salisbury, and Hugh Paul (Gladys) Farnen of Centralia, MO; brother-in-law Ray Henke of Salisbury; and numerous nieces and nephews.
