Service Information: Services are 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Summerville Funeral Home with burial and Military Honors at Eastlawn Memory Gardens Cemeteries. Military honors by Missouri Military Honors Team and the Salisbury American Legion.

William Robert "Bill" Sweeney, 87, of Salisbury, MO, died Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the Brunswick Nursing and Rehab.  Bill was born October 17, 1931 in Kansas City, MO the son of Robert Calvin and Tressa (Munsell) Sweeney.  Bill married Doris Mae Wahl on February 23, 1952 and she preceded him in death on June 11, 1983.  Bill married Mardella Mayers on May 14, 1988 and she survives.


Bill was a graduate of Salisbury High School, and attended the University of Missouri.  Bill played the drums in high school, and for Marching Mizzou while he attended the University of Missouri.  He also played drums for many area bands in his younger years.  He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.  Bill was co-owner and operator of W.R. Sweeney Manufacturing in Salisbury for 50 plus years.  He was a member of the First Christian Church in Salisbury.  Bill enjoyed sailing with his brother Bob on Thomas Hill Lake, and he enjoyed maintaining his beautiful lawn at his home.


Bill is survived by his wife Mardella of the home, a son Bill Jr. (Dawn) Sweeney of Blue Springs, step-son Ron (Susan) Mayers of Chillicothe, MO, step-daughters Rhonda Tebbenkamp of Salisbury, Sue (Sam) Guthrie of Marceline, MO, brother Robert "Bob" (Norma) Sweeney of Salisbury, MO, three grandchildren Brent (Heather) Sweeney, Theresa (Erik) Amandola, Emily (Jason) Johnson, 8 step grandchildren Bryan (Melissa) Tebbenkamp, Sarah (Mitchell) Green, Laura (Derek) Nolke, Noah (Jennifer) Collins, Jake (Ali) Collins, Conrad Guthrie, Mason Mayers, Grahm Meyers, four great grandchildren Evelyn, Ava, Vincent, Eric, 10 step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, daughter Carole Bultmann, two sons-in-law Daryl Tebbenkamp, Tom Bultmann, granddaughter Haley Stellings.
