Biography:

Norma Jean Sweeney, 90, of Columbia, MO, formerly of Salisbury, MO, died Tuesday, July 30, 2109 at Cedar Hurst Assisted Living in Columbia, MO.  Norma was born March 2, 1929 in Brunswick, MO the daughter of Rudolph T. and Rosa Lee (Sowers) Sasse.  She married Norvell Howard "Jack" Gebhardt on November 1, 1945 and he preceded her in death on December 18, 1968.  On September 9, 1970 in Brunswick she married Robert "Bob" Sweeney and he survives.

 

Norma was a graduate of Brunswick High School, Class of 1947.  She worked for the Dept of Rev. as Collector and was a homemaker.  Norma was raised in Brunswick and lived in Salisbury for 43+ years.  She was a member of the Brunswick United Methodist Church, before transferring her membership to the Salisbury First Christian Church after her marriage to Bob.  She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi, Music, and Worth While club in Brunswick, and PEO, Chapter BD and Music club in Salisbury.

 

Norma is survived by her husband Bob of Columbia, son Jamie Gebhardt of Brunswick, stepdaughter Sheryl Ann (John "Jack") Schreiber of St. Louis, MO, and step grandson John Jr. (Chelsea) Schreiber of Los Angelo’s, CA.  She is preceded by her parents, husband Norvell, daughter-in-law Sandy Gebhardt, and step grandson Andrew Schreiber.

 

Visitation is 11-1:00 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2019 with services following at 1:00 p.m., at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury, MO, with burial in Elliott Grove Cemetery in Brunswick, MO.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Elliott Grove Cemetery or the Salisbury Christian Church.
